The business was founded by Ted Steiner, who started his career as a watchmaker's apprentice and later opened his own shop in 1937. After serving in the Air Force in WWII, he reopened his business on Third Avenue in San Mateo, initially selling not only jewelry and watches but also household items.

Today, Steiners Jewelry is in its third generation of ownership and continues to operate based on the principles established by Ted Steiner, prioritizing relationships, values, and passion for fine jewelry and timepieces.
