Porterhouse

Porterhouse, a steakhouse in San Mateo, California, operates out of a historic bank building at 164 S. B Street, built in 1924. This building features high ceilings, subdued lighting, and original film posters and billboards from the Golden Age of Hollywood, creating a distinctive ambiance.

The menu features dry-aged Mid-West steaks, fresh seafood, seasonal produce, and ingredients, all made in-house. House-made ingredients are a point of pride, with all stocks and sauces, including four of the five Mother Sauces - Bechamel, Veloute, Espagnole, and Hollandaise - prepared on the premises.

Dining options include a daily menu, dinner menu, lounge menu, happy hour menu, dessert menu, and wine list. Private dining rooms can accommodate up to 110 guests, and catering and banquet services are also available.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a focus on providing immeasurable hospitality through its environment and attentive service. Tableside experiences, such as Bananas Foster and Crepe Suzette, are prepared with a flambé on Saturday evenings, and every Wednesday night is Beef Wellington Wednesday, with beef wellington served, though availability is limited.
